A freely downloadable CAD file has popped up online at Microsoft Research, with the group claiming to have developed a superior lens design than the one currently inhabiting the Oculus Rift DK2 headset.

This year has seen virtual reality (VR) technology has quickly transform from a focus on a seated experience to allowing players to physically move around a limited space. Valves SteamVR system, for example, introduces Room Scale tracking, allowing those using the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) to walk around an area of 15-feet by 15-feet and have those movements replicated within an experience. The Oculus Rift will be offering somewhat of a similar concept with its constellation tracking technology. But what about Project Morpheus, the upcoming HMD for PlayStation 4?

With its simple gameplay, short levels and twin-stick controls, you could almost be forgiven for assuming Meltdown is a console game. Youd be close in that assumption, because Meltdown is actually a port from iOS and Android. Released late 2013, it was finally released for PC and the Oculus Rift in June of 2015, and were pleased to say its one heck of a fun game.

Following the reveal of the consumer version of the Oculus Rift head-mounted display at Oculus VRs Step into the Rift press conference, San Francisco, earlier this month, parent company Facebooks stock rose Monday as the worlds largest social network received a substantial price target boost from investment bank Piper Jaffray. An analyst from the firm has hinted that this was in part due to the announcement of a partnership with Microsoft, which may in time see the launch of a Microsoft Rift device for Xbox One.
